Basic

Our Basic Program covers an introduction to Aikido including basic ukemi (falling) skills, ki exercises and warmups, and at least the minimum test requirements for the student's first rank exam. Students in our Basic Program are eligible to attend any beginner classes during the month. Tuition is $50 per month and students may participate in this program for up to 6 months, after which they must join our Advanced Program.

Advanced

Our Advanced Program is designed to take students through our entire rank program. Training includes all AAA test requirements including Aikido weapons training (bokken, jo and tanto). Prior to joining this program, students must receive approval from Chett Rubenstein Sensei to ensure minimum ukemi skills for safety. Students in our Advanced Program are eligible to attend all regularly scheduled classes. Tuition is $75 per month.

Samurai

The Japanese word 'Samurai' actually means one who serves. Students in our Samurai Program receive additional training to expand their Aikido beyond the mat and into their lives. In addition to training in the workings of the dojo, and assisting with dojo operations, students will be involved in activities outside the dojo including work in the community to promote safety and a non-violent approach to conflict resolution. Students in our Samurai Program are eligible to attend all classes offered as well as periodic special training outside of regularly scheduled classes. Tuition is $100 per month.

Family Plans

It is our goal to promote and encourage family participation in our programs, as we have seen the positive impact of Aikido study by parents, children and siblings together. While we already maintain our program tuition at rates below comparable programs in our community, we realize the financial burden of multiple students can be difficult for some families. Therefore we offer Family Plans for each of our programs that provide significant tuition discounts for aditional family members. Please see the table below for a summary of these rates.

Test Fees

Below is a table of test fees for both children and adults. Test fees must be submitted and all membership fees must be paid up to date prior to testing. In addition to fees, a Kyu Test Application must be completed and, if it is your first exam, a New Member Application must also be completed. Please click on the links below to access these forms.

Scholarships

Phoenix Aikido is committed to bringing non-violence to our communities. We operate as a non-profit educational organization so that we can also contribute to other organizations that bring benefit to these same communities. We admit students of any sex, race, color, national and ethnic origin and we also want to make sure our programs are made available to those students who want to study but may otherwise not have the financial resources to participate. Therefore we offer scholarships to select students on a case by case basis. Please contact us if you would like to schedule a meeting to discuss scholarship opportunities.

Payment Policy

In an effort to minimize administrative costs we set up monthly electronic payments for our membership fees. Members have an option of either paying by credit card or electronic check. Payments are processed on or about the first of the month and if members need to suspend or cancel their membership, notification must be made prior to the beginiing of the month. Any member insisting on paying their membership fees by physical check or cash must pay up front the total due over the life of the contract.

Corporate Training

Aikido has applications both on and off the mat, and there are many of the underlying philosophical concepts of the art that are relevant to today's business world. Phoenix Aikido offers corporate training programs that can positively and powerfully impact your employees and your company. We customize this training to your specific needs and can provide half-day, full-day and multi-day sessions for your staff at very reasonable rates.
